Project |01 "Location Based Service for Intelligent Agent Platform"

In this project, LGE came with Concierge Board in which it displays user based recommendation or daily information from external sources such as weather. In particular, she designed and implemented location (i.e., point of interest) detection module to find out favorite places. Also,

she constructed trajectory mining algorithm for next location prediction.

Project |02 “A Survey on User Experience Based on Multi-Modal Interfaces”

As Apple’s Siri surfaced to the market, intelligent personal assistant service is now available for mobile phone users. Intelligent Agent (IA) is a software module that assists people and acts on their behalf. LGE is now working on IA that powers the next generation of intelligent personal agent. Intelligent Agent Engine (IAE) is an embedded personal agent that combines image understanding, user recognition, and natural language understanding, and dialog technology. It is critical for IAE to handle multi-modal inputs including video, image, and voice to provide easy-to-use interfaces. In particular, she designed user experience scenarios based on gesture and face recognition technology. Since she joined Creative Innovation Center, she made contributions to designing user experience based on multi-modal inputs especially for user recognition, using gesture recognition and face detection.

Project |03 “Design and implementation of a gesture recognition framework”

The future of the device control might be based on gesture, and we may never have to touch the device ever again. To support various types of 2D/3D sensors and replacement of embedded tracker algorithms, we designed and implemented gesture recognition framework. Recognizing sensor data as inputs and analyzing it are the two major parts for the gesture recognition framework. In particular, she designed a middleware to analyze data from sensors including detection, tracking user context and recognition of gestures. For the first time in CES 2012, LGE introduced gesture control of televisions.

Project |04 “SQLite database performance enhancement for the Android platform”

Even though recent data storage memory supports Gigabytes (GB), the number of data types and the amount of contents are increasing substantially. In order to improve the data handling speed of Android applications, LGE’s accumulated embedded DBMS technology was adopted, an easy-to-use and quickly showing search results application. This embedded solution reached the state-of-the art performance. In this particular technology, she participated in implementing advanced shadow paging technique and extensive testing to improve the quality of embedded DBMS.

Project |05 “Design and implementation of a Generic Data Converter(GDC)”

LGE developed generic data converter to support the integrated management of data transfer format. Conversion and transmission data module that encodes and decodes a variety of phone data such as e-mail, message, contact, and scheduling for an extension of parsing vObject. In this project, she designed and implemented GDC architecture for the integrated management of data processing efficiency and ease of maintenance. GDC was adopted for LG three-way (Web-PC-Mobile phone) sync technology.

Project |06 "Design and implementation of a LG embedded DBMS (LGeDBMS)"
 
LG Electronics developed its own embedded DBMS for mobile phones to manage user data in an environment with limited resources. In this project, “LG Embedded Database Management System (LGeDBMS),” she developed a middleware that enabled users to save, modify, and search the phone data. She was responsible for designing the database schema, developing application programming interfaces (APIs), and testing the middleware for music and files. LGeDBMS was adopted in majority of LG mobile phones.

Project |07 "Design and implementation of a Personal Information Management System(PIMS)"
 

In this project, LGE developed embedded personal information management software for supporting users to store, remove, modify, sort, and search data in cell phone. Contacts, schedules, memos, to-

dos, alarm, d-days, and multi-media files could be managed by PIMS. In particular, she designed and implemented services to sort files such as music and image. Also, she implemented multi-language supporting Application Programming Interface (API). PIMS was adopted in a majority of LG mobile phones. She also performed benchmark test regarding Oracle Femto and SQLite.
